Climate action – taking it to the streets!

Council Elections are in October 2024. Let’s make sure our community understands that Local Government matters for Climate Action and help people make an informed vote.

In 2024 we want to support the national campaign for No New Coal and Gas.

Lighter Footprints continues its support for Electrify Boroondara in 2024.

Join us in planning and executing our non-partisan Local Government Campaign in Boroondara

Planning is underway and we need your help. Bring your ideas and your energy to our planning sessions on candidate surveys, scorecard development, fence signs and candidate forums.
We want to make sure Boroondara residents understand where the Council candidates stand on climate action. There are plenty of examples of what a climate active Council can achieve and we want Boroondara to be a leader. Let’s elect a Council that takes climate change as seriously as we do.
This is a joint working group with the Kooyong Climate Change Alliance. – Tick the Council Campaign box in the form below.

Electrify Boroondara Library pop-ups and and more coming soon!

Help Electrify Boroondara raise awareness of the benefits of electrification by volunteering on a pop-up stall.
We’ve enjoyed talking to Boroondara residents at the Kew, Ashburton, Camberwell and Balwyn libraries. This year Electrify Boroondara hopes to spread its wings to include pop-up stalls at neighbourhood houses and recreation centres as well as libraries.
  • We volunteer in pairs for 2.5 hour sessions.
  • Training is provided and new volunteers are welcome.
Tick the Library PopUps box in the form to take part in this valuable community outreach project.

Letterboxing

Supporting local climate action
Letterboxing our community to advertise our upcoming events has been very effective – we’d love your support to support our events and campaigns in 2024.

Community Conversations and Petitions

One-on-one conversations with our community about climate change are powerful. Currently we are asking our community to sign a petition opposing fossil gas in the Kew Recreation Centre. We also plan to talk to our community about the climate movement’s “No New Coal and Gas” campaign. Will you join us for street conversations on a Saturday morning? Tick the stalls box in the form below.
