Powering 2025: Driving Australia’s Energy Transition

Wednesday, March 5, 2025 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Location: Malvern Town Hall, 1251 High Street, Malvern

Energy analyst and renewables expert Simon Holmes à Court has once again generously agreed to give Lighter Footprints his annual update on Australia's energy transition. Simon will be joined in conversation with Ric Brazzale, Managing Director at Green Energy Trading. With more than 35 years experience in the energy and renewables sector, Ric will help us explore the policy settings that will support a healthy, profitable renewables industry.

According to the CSIRO's 2024 State of the Climate Report, 2023 was the warmest year on record globally. It found that, on land, Australia has warmed by an average of 1.51 degrees since 1910 and has experienced an increase in extreme heat events, longer fire seasons, more intense heavy rainfall, and sea level rise. None of us is imune to the impacts of climate change. Australia faces seriouse challenges but is also endowed with significant natural resources and has the potential to provide leadership on the world stage. Is Australia doing enough? Will we meet our targets and are our targets sufficient? Find out what these experts think at this free public meeting.

Simon Holmes à Court is a board member of the Smart Energy Council and a Director at the Superpower Institute. He is a man of many hats but to Lighter Footprints he is an energy analyst with many years of experience in the renewables sector with a talent for clearly sharing complex information.

Don’t miss what promises to be an engaging and informative evening! This meeting will arm us with the facts that we can take forward and share with others.

Join us at 7:00pm to peruse the information stalls in the hall. The meeting will start at 7:30pm.
