Boroondara Candidates Forum

Wednesday, September 30, 2020 7:30pm - 9:00pm
Location: Zoom and Facebook Live

Council elections are finally here for 2020! Don't miss this chance to ask climate and other questions of your ward candidates, and find out what their plans are for a climate-friendly future for Boroondara.

Join us at 7:30pm for an opening address from environmental documentary maker Craig Reucassel before we break out into separate ward events to hear from the election candidates. Instructions and links for joining the ward events will be provided to you on the night.

This October Boroondara voters have a chance to use their votes for climate action! To help make an informed choice, join us and hear from candidates on their climate plans. During ward events candidates will be asked three initial questions: 2 on climate and 1 on governance, before we open the floor to your questions on any topic. Invite your friends, neighbours and local community groups along.

A quick reminder of the election timeline:

  • Postal ballots will be mailed to you from Tuesday 6 October,
  • Voting closes at 6pm, Friday 23 October (which means the declaration on your form must be signed on or before Friday 23 October), and
  • Your postal ballot must be received by election officials before 12pm Friday 30 October.

So once you’ve made your informed decision, return your ballot well before the closing date to make sure your vote counts!

When you RSVP please indicate which ward you live in. Please note that Council ward boundaries have changed and you may be in a new ward.  You can find out which ward you live in by entering your address here or by finding your street on this map. This will give us an indication of which breakout you’d be interested in joining – we may not end up running events for each of the eleven wards in Boroondara. You are of course welcome to join any of them, but it’s best to engage directly with council candidates that you will be voting for!
